The state of the city address was a once in a life time experience. I saw and meet many important people. An example of an important person is Fire Chief Brian Cummings. Mr. Cummings told me the jobs of the firefighters and interesting facts about the L.A.F.D. . The Los Angeles city government is big and very complex. There are many city officials dealing and ranging from educational to environmental officials. It takes many hard working people to run Los Angeles. They are currently 13 districts that make up all Los Angeles, which means that Los Angeles is very big. The city government is complex because it has to deal with education, environment and the common people concerns.

Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa talked in his speech about a proposed ballot that would allow an expansion on the transit system. This ballot is known as Measure R. This measure will create jobs and finish projects faster than planned. An Example of Measure R at work is to have a subway from Green Line to LAX. The mayor also said that he wanted to make business easier in Los Angeles. A quote from LAcity.org about Mayor Antino R.Villaraigosa view on Los Angeles business is that “‘we are focused on changing the way Los Angeles does business so that is it easier to do business in Los Angeles’” (LAcity.org 1). This quote means that doing business in Los Angeles is hard because of all its rules and regulation, but the whole point is to make it easier. Once again the state of the address is a once in a life time experience and I am grateful for being able to go.
